When I first started my inspirational and eco-friendly t-shirt line, I didn’t know anything about manufacturing, screen printing, selling online, getting publicity, working with celebrities, getting my products in stores, or even fashion, for that matter. I was five months pregnant with my first child and all I had was an idea that I knew would take off if I marketed it the right way.

I just didn’t know what the “right way” was at the time, so I tried EVERYTHING! I spent months learning as much as I could about the t-shirt and fashion business and trying to figure out who my ideal customer was. I thought that if I could market my business to “everybody who wore t-shirts” I could make millions! Slowly, I learned about defining my target market and came up with many strategies of how to reach them.

My t-shirts on the cover of a magazine!

But it wasn’t easy! Or cheap, for that matter. I made soooooo many mistakes along the way. Like spending $6,000 on a PR firm because they promised me lots of exposure – I got some press mentions, but definitely not $6,000 worth. Or “trusting” my manufacturer and not signing off on the final order, which resulted in ALL of my labels being printed incorrectly AND half of the shirts being the wrong color (and when half is almost 3,000 t-shirts, it’s not an easy mistake to fix)! Or spending over a year working with sales reps who didn’t deliver what they promised (I learned later that I had to actually stay in touch with them, motivate them and manage them if I wanted them to be as excited about my products as I was).

And if you’re anything like I was when I first started, you probably spend HOURS checking email every day because doing anything else seems so overwhelming. When there are orders to be filled, new products to be designed, phone calls to be returned, social media posts to be scheduled, banners to be designed, trade shows to be planned, and everything else you need to do to keep your business afloat (and not to mention that you can’t even pay yourself yet), it’s easy to feel paralyzed! Giving up your business seems to be the only thing that makes sense.

I have felt this MANY times, but I’m here to tell you that if I can do it, you can do it – you can have the business of your dreams, pay yourself, hire others to help you and give back to your community or charitable causes! By the time I sold my business in 2011 (right before my third baby was born!) I was able to figure out how to make it all work – how to reach six figure sales, how to have others help me and how to have more free time to spend with my friends and family and do the things that I enjoyed. Over the span of four years, I sold over 20,000 t-shirts and helped to plant over 20,000 trees through my charitable partnership. I had to shift my thinking many times to support my growth and I realized that we are meant to do BIG THINGS.

My business was no longer running ME and it felt amazing! I sold my company so I can have more time to work with entrepreneurs like you – entrepreneurs who have an amazing product that the world needs to know about! At first I started working one-on-one with entrepreneurs, but I was not able to keep up with the demand for my coaching services. And that’s when I decided to create Product Marketing Breakthrough – the ONLY course that covers all aspects of marketing and growing a product line. There are lots of other marketing courses out there, but most of them focus on service-based businesses, not products.

Since Product Marketing Breakthrough opened for registration in early 2012, over 100 entrepreneurs have participated with great success. I often hear things like “Your course is the best thing that happened to my business” or “I couldn’t have done this without you.”

It gives me so much joy to help entrepreneurs like you! To help you save time, save money and have the business of your dreams. If you are truly ready to step it up in your business, you’re invited to join me by becoming a Product Marketing Breakthrough member. Registration closes at midnight EST on January 31, 2013. After all, I’ve been using their handy little service for free, and I’d like to chip in my fair share. Unfortunately, their donation system was set up so that the minimum donation I could give was $60. Sixty dollars? Yes, I love your freeware but I also use freeware for a reason…
