Want to be inspired by entrepreneurs who are doing something great? Then read on. Each day we feature new entrepreneurs who are passionate about their business and who are living their dream.
Today’s entrepreneur is Kinzie Jones of Find Me Book.
When and why did you start your business?
We had just moved from Minnesota to California. My garage was in shambles and my mom wanted a picture of it. I thought “what a horrible picture this will be”, so I had the kids hide in between the boxes to make it fun. When we looked at the photo, the kids loved it and I thought “A-HA!” Nothing is out there like this so I kept on going with my idea and now I am selling Find Me Books.
What do you love about being an entrepreneur?
Just saying the word “entrepreneur” makes me proud. I like that I thought of an idea that was totally unique but I love the fact that I followed through and created it. That is definitely the tough part. So when I say entrepreneur, I think of following through.
Describe your business in 20 words or less.
Find Me Book is a personalized look and find. Think Where’s Waldo but you are searching for your family’s faces. *20 on the dot!
What advice would you give other entrepreneurs when they are first starting out?
Everyone and everthing I read said, “have a business plan.” Well, I did not. After the 2nd year, I did develop a business plan and it has been wonderful. It keeps me on track and focused. Definitely have a business plan.
What is one thing you wish you knew about being an entrepreneur when you first started out?
Time. It will be very time consuming and will take time to get it going. But don’t give up! It will be worth it!
