How to get more followers on Twitter and get more Likes on Facebook

How to get more followers on social mediaDo you want to know how to get more followers on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or any other social media network you or your business are a part of?

Here are three things you can do right now to get more followers and likes:

  1. Add the “Follow Me” button on your website, on your blog AND in your email newsletter. That will serve as a constant reminder for your web visitors and newsletter readers to join you on social media. You’ll see mine on every page and in every email newsletter that I send out. (If you haven’t already subscribed to my weekly tips email, make sure to do so by entering your name and email address to the right).
  2. Send a newsletter to your email list and ask them to follow you. Let’s say you’re trying to reach 1,000 fans and you are at 834 right now. Send a quick email to your list and let them know that you’re trying to reach 1,000 fans and you would love their help. You’ll be surprised at how many will respond! You can even offer them an incentive to win something (although be careful to follow the rules because some sites like Facebook have strict rules about running contents).
  3. Remind them after they have already taken action. Let’s say that someone just signed up for your newsletter. On your signup confirmation page or email, add a note that says something like “Now that you’ve signed up for our newsletter, will you take a minute and follow us on Twitter and Like us on Facebook?” You can add the same message to your order confirmation page right after someone buys something from you and you can even include a note with your package if you are shipping their products.

Remember, the more reminders your readers, visitors and customers get, the more likely they are to follow you on social media (did you know that it takes an average of 7 times of seeing a message/product before people take action?)
