30 ways to promote your blog posts

As a blogger, you might think that the success of their blog depends on HOW OFTEN you post or add content to your blog. When I first launched this blog I was posting a new blog post almost every day! I thought that the more content I had, the more readers I would attract to my blog.

But over the last few months, I've been experimenting with something new – publish one new blog post per week, but spend a lot more time promoting it! And guess what? It worked! My blog readership went from just a few thousand readers per month to over 20,000, all because I invested some time to promote my blog posts.

The most obvious ways to promote your blog posts is to share them via social media, but there are more ways to get the word.

Here are 30 ways to promote your blog posts

What are some ways you are promoting your blog posts? Leave a comment below.

P.S. You're more than welcome to publish this infographic on your blog and I'd love to know about it. Just right click and “SAVE AS” to save it to your desktop and then upload it to your platform. Once it's up on your site, just contact us with a link to your post and we'll share it on our social media networks as well.

  1. Thank you, for another great blog post. I didn’t know about bookmarking sites so I put my latest blog post there. and I pinned it to my Pinterest board “Help in Business”

  2. I’m always looking for more ways to get my blog out there and inspire more people. Thanks for all the new ideas I got!

  3. Awesome article. As a review blogger I have a list shared by other bloggers to promote on, as well as twitter and facebook, but this opens up a new world to consider.
I will definately be looking to see who is a right fit.
    Thank you so very much!

  4. Oh thank you so much for making this packed full of amazing information graphic. We all start from somewhere and its helpful to see other ways to tackle your goals. Thanks!

  5. This is great! I use FB and Twitter but now starting to use Pinterest after interacting with your work Andreea!! Great ideas and the graphic is easy to understand 🙂

  6. As a social media mentor and partner, this is great. Exactly what I tell my clients! Nice infographic. Thanks for sharing. Tried to put on my blog, but I got the dreaded 404 error!

  7. I second Outbrain- their content referral is eerily spot on and I have it on good authority that the handsomest engineer of all time works there.

  8. Awesome list. You’ve got to make your blog writing part of the conversations that people are already having if you want them to succeed.

  9. Millions thanks for such details but easy read post! It helps me a lot for my current beginner level for blogging and online store business promotion works.! 🙂

  10. Brilliant tips! I definitely need to focus more attention on writing more and sharing more, and I hadn’t heard of a number of the syndication sites, so I will be doing a bit of surfing tonight. Cheers, Andreea! 🙂

  11. Great infographic. Saw it through SocialBuzzClub and had to share it on my blog today.

  12. This is a very helpful post. I wanted to print it but I cannot seem to do so without the like, tweet column bar and in a nice format.
    Any suggestions?

  13. Thank you very much for this information. I promote on the social media sites but you have given me several more avenues to check out.

  14. Great advice and provided me with some ideas I didn’t know about. Next step is to follow this chart and measure the results. Thank you!

  15. Which site is more appropriate demographically for a business-related blog, Pinterest or G+?

    1. Marla, I would say Pinterest because people spend an average of over 400 minutes on Pinterest per month and only 3 minutes per month on Google+!

  16. Quote: “Marla, I would say Pinterest because people spend an average of over 400 minutes on Pinterest per month and only 3 minutes per month on Google+!”

Would you say Google+ is not that big a deal? I find it so difficult to get followers (circle friends) and end up posting to myself 🙂

  17. Marla – wonderful ideas. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and insights!
    Stay blessed,
    Bob

  18. Wow, what a great lesson in how to promote your website. I don’t do any of this, then I wonder why no one visits my great posts… Thank you so much! I’d better get cracking…

  19. I have read many blogs about same topic but this is very perfect .
give me some tips to promote my free classifieds ads .

  20. Clever, simple, understandable : everything I needed to keep working on promoting my blog ! Thank you.
Will need to apply your advices to the French market now 🙂

  21. This is really helpful and a lovely graphic that appeals to me. I’d love to print it for my wall, but it comes out too small!

    thank you

  22. Thanks for this great, easy-to-follow post! Simple yet elegant. While reading this, I’ve already posted about my blog on Pinterest, Facebook, and Digg. Hopefully doing all of this will give my blog the push that I’ve been waiting for. Oh yeah, and check out my super awesome food and travel blog

  23. Thanks for this great post and good advices. This is really helpful and very easy and fun to read too. Definitely a golden source for new bloggers. With your permission, I will post this on my own blog too. Cheers.

  24. Great post! There are some things I will definitely put into practice for my beauty blog. More importantly I look forward to sharing this with the business coaching workshop that I teach. I share some of this information but your graphics and text are so clear, they will really “get it”. I will share the link when I post it!

  25. Thanks for the great tips in a lovely format!

Has anyone tried the “posting the same post on twitter 2-3” times a day? that sort of scares me–like it will annoy people, but this is not the first time I’ve seen this advice, so I’m not debating it–but would love to hear if anyone’s made this change and saw what happened.

    thanks!

    1. I’ve done it and if you spread it out so that it’s one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening it’s ok. And I often change the tweet so that it’s not the same tweet three times per day, but it’s going to the same link.

  26. Thank you for this fantastic, thought-provoking post – and the infographic itself is great 🙂

  27. Thanks for this great info….have bookmarked your page. I’ve been blogging for a few years….but decided to make an online journal beginning today…Christmas Eve. I have tweeted it on twitter and shared it to my facebook page and had 60 views already….so I’m looking for new ways to promote….which is how I found your page. Off to Pinterest now….thanks for the idea 🙂

  28. I’ve been searching for ways to drive more traffic to my blog. Thank you for your 30 ways. Have to do a lot more with your list.

  29. You’ve certainly given us some homework to do.

It really makes me realize how passive my blogging has been. Inspired to get more actively involved in the marketing aspect 🙂

    Thanks.

  30. This post is just what I needed right now. Been goal setting and one of them is to promote my blogs more.
You have an awesome list here will need to bookmake your page so I can refer back when needed.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers
    Bryan

  31. Great info! I usually submit my articles to directories, I rewrite my articles myself or use an article spinner. This helps create additional backlinks to my site that can be a source of traffic. If you do this make sure you don’t post the same article word for word, it could be considered duplicate content and Google will discount it. So you want to make sure to use a spinner. Thanks for the post.

  32. I’m pinning this! Thank you so much for a great post- this year I have decided to blog at a frequency of once per week, but I had no idea how to drive more visitors and comments to my blog. You’ve given me some work to do. 🙂

  33. Wow..so much info to take in..Im not familiar with Reddit or Digg. I tried to look at them but found it overwhelming. I am going to have to really find time to see what these sites are about. Pinterest makes things so easy..I got confused while looking at both reddit and digg???

  34. This is the kind of checklist I’ve been looking for! Thank you so much for being so concise. I shared it on FB with my entrepeneur group and will also implement on my blog. (Also, thank you for the opportunity to mention my own blog 🙂

  35. I’m really impressed with that info-graphics, it really explains it all. Thanks for this useful post.

  36. Thanks for a great post. Wasn’t familiar with the syndicated websites that you mentioned. Will certainly give ’em a try! Promotion is definitely the hardest part of blogging 😉

  37. What a fantastic post – thank you! I will be adding this to my infograpics board on Pinterest – invaluable and I will be sharing this fantastically good practice!

  38. This is one of the best posts I’ve read on growing a blog – thanks so much for posting this –
    Now following you!
    Hugs,
    Suzan

  39. Thank You very much for such great information. I’ve just launched my blog and you have collated all the research I needed to do into one infographic. I’ve started implementing your suggestions already.

    Olivia

  40. Smart, smart, smart!!! From the tips themselves, to organizing information in appealing digestible bites, to offering the HTML code for the infographic and encouraging your readers to spread the word! Really awesome! Lesson in and of itself 🙂

  41. Some very good advice here, but three things jumped out at me…StumbleUpon, Digg, and Reddit ALL frown upon submitting your own content. They also have systems in place to detect when people are “gaming” their site. You don’t want to be banned (as a user) or have your site blacklisted from any of these sites, because it will cost you significant traffic and exposure.

  42. Thank you immensely for this summary! I am fairly new to the world of blogging, and this piece has summed things up clearly.

  43. This is probably THE most helpful article I have read on promoting blogs. Thank you so very much- I can implement several of these tips today!

  44. This is a super helpful post, thank you! I’ve been able to figure out a couple of the recommendations and have set aside more time to figure out the rest, I’m determined!

One of the regular posts I’m planning on doing is called “Chronicles of a New Blogger” – where I’m documenting all the activities I’m doing to try to be successful. I’m definitely going to link to this article in my next (second!) post.

  63. Great Information, Love the infographic! I know what I’ll be doing this weekend!

  64. Great tips there!!! I must say the biggest problem is finding time to actually join all these different sites – I already have a notebook with 100 passwords for different websites I’ve joined to promote my blog. Sadly there is only so much we can do with the time we have!! So I find it’s best to just pick 5 or 6 of these and work hard at them. Jonny

    Donald

  69. Awesome tips. I checked this out a week ago and incorporated a few already. My readership is starting to climb. Fantastic advice.

  70. Thanks for the great list! I would also like to add Blog Carnival to it. You might not get a lot of traffic from there, but you will get some great links and exposure among bloggers in your niche 🙂

  71. Thank you SO MUCH Andreea!
I wasn’t really taking advantage of the bookmarking sites and have already seen a huge jump in traffic from reddit alone! I would absolutely LOVE a social media mention from you. Really appreciate your immediately helpful advice!

  72. Andrea – this is a fabulous post – incredibly useful and laid out in such an easy-to-read, user-friendly way.

Thanks! Jill@ MamaGing.com

  79. I plan to use this infographic. Definitely will help put a plan and structure into marketing my blogs.

  80. Excellent! This is the simplest, most user-friendly explanation of blog post promotion tools that I’ve ever found. Bravo!

  81. Hello Andreea

A good article, and thanks for sharing the infographics. I have used it in this post (and with a link back to here):

  82. Fantastic infographic! Thanks for allowing us to share it and your domain name at the bottom is what returned me to your site!

  83. I was wondering if it was completely safe to submit the blog to Amazon publishing. Can you please throw some light?

    -Hiral

  84. If there are any Mommy/Mummy bloggers who do crafts with their kids, they could do an article for MyKidCraft . You can leave a link to your blog to help encourage traffic through to your site. We have around 26,000 readers a month and over 3,000 subscribers.

  89. Great post and infographic, Andreea! I have the same problem an earlier commenter has. I’d like to make a desktop background out of this but the print is too small. Is there any chance you have the original PSD file and that it is much bigger? I’d really LOVE to have this!

    Thank you,

    Jeff

  90. Thank you for all these tips! I didn’t realize marketing my site would make such a difference, but I understand the concept now! The infographic is great too. I’m more of a visual learner.
